My name is Tobias Ratschkowski. I am the person behind Unim8trix.
I joined ASWO International Service GmbH in 1992 and spent over 25 years building its IT department from the ground up, later running it as Head of IT. From the first server, through international site networking, to strategic platform choices and people responsibility — that time taught me to see how technology decisions play out years later. For better and for worse.
Since 2020 I have worked as an independent IT consultant. Today I focus mostly on migrations and modernisations — from VMware exits, through hyperconverged Proxmox and Ceph clusters, to container-based platforms for the public sector.
What I stand for
Vendor neutrality. I’m not selling you anything. I help you find the right tool for your problem — sometimes open source, sometimes commercial, sometimes a mix. What it won’t be: the tool I earn a commission on.
Open source where it holds up. Wherever it’s a good fit, I recommend free and open-source software. Not out of ideology, but because it enables digital sovereignty and keeps you independent of licence prices set by someone else.
Honesty about risks. I don’t hide them. If a migration is going to get difficult, I say so up front — not once the budget is already gone.
Handover is part of the engagement. I don’t build systems only I can run. When I leave, what remains is a platform your team understands and can take forward.
